Women, Maintain Your Fitness Motivation with these Strategies

When it comes to fitness motivation, women and men are in the same boat. While many people set fitness goals for themselves, very often they find it hard to actually get started or remain consistent about exercising. Naturally there are some who seem to be highly self-motivated. At one point or another, however, everyone finds it a challenge to work out week after week. Fortunately, there are effective methods to increase your level of motivation so you don't abandon your goals. In this article, we'll be covering three fitness motivation tactics that are geared to women in particular. More information on fitness motivation ideas for women here.

It may help to consider a different approach if you are finding it increasingly challenging to maintain any forward momentum. Make a deal with yourself involving performance and rewards. Look at it as positive reinforcement. An example could be treating yourself to a healthy, but new, kind of reward if you complete your entire workout routine as planned. A possible reward is to stop by a healthy sports drink bar for a delicious treat. Indulging in a nice hot bubble bath that evening for reaching your workout goal is another example. Stick to your rewards for performance goals and be creative with them. Remember to remain sensitive and aware of your feelings and pay attention to any intuitions you might have. If a part of your body, or an inner sense of some kind is telling you to pay attention to something, do so. If you find that you feel super "out of it" for no apparent reason, then be sure there is a reason. If you're aware of your moods and thoughts, you don't have to let them affect you so much, and you can stay focused on what you want to accomplish. Sometimes, getting too much sleep can leave you feeling just as tired as when you didn't get enough. Missing workouts can be the downfall of your fitness program, so don't let yourself skip them if it's at all possible. Think of every workout you miss as a step further away from your goals.

Working alone creates a challenge for some people. It is natural for some to be happier among other people; while others are fine with being alone. If you prefer to be around others, admit and look into joining a club. Find a nice and safe place where you can be in the presence of others. Pick the most appealing exercise for you once you've found a place. You will find that something within is satisfied when you are near others, but not necessarily hanging out or actually socializing with them. Fitness motivation for women does not have to become a quagmire that it seems to be for so many of us. Do some solid research or read inspirational and motivational books on the subject. You can collect your own set of tools that you'll have by your side when you need them. Once you are reaching your goals, then you know you never want to slide back again.
